Some images have no description

A short description on each meaningful picture is what lets a blind visitor know what it shows. A decorative picture should be marked as decorative, which also counts as done. Under the Equality Act you are expected to make reasonable adjustments, and this is the most reasonable one there is.

It is usually a box in the same place you upload the picture.

WAVE lists every image without a description.

How to fix it

  1. Add a one-line description to each image that carries meaning.
  2. Mark purely decorative images as decorative.
The technical version, for your web person

alt text. Images with no alt attribute at all, excluding role=presentation. alt="" is correct for a decorative image and counts as done (lessons.md 16). 90% coverage earns full marks.

What the check reads. Share of <img> tags with alt attribute missing entirely (alt=None) vs present (including the correct alt="" for decorative images); ≥90% coverage = full credit, ≥60% = partial credit + MED finding, <60% = HIGH finding.

This is one of the checks in a YLB Score report. Every report is free, read by a person before it goes out, and written so that you can act on it without us. Ask for yours.
