A privacy policy is the basic promise to visitors about what you do with their details, and it is expected the moment you collect any: a contact form, an email address, analytics. Missing, it is the first thing a careful customer notices.
A page of plain sentences is enough. It does not need to be long; it needs to be true.

Look at your own footer for a Privacy link, and open it.
How to fix it
- Write down what you collect, why, who you share it with and how long you keep it.
- Put it on a page, link it from the footer of every page, and date it.
The technical version, for your web person
privacy link. An <a> whose href or text contains 'privacy'. A policy counts only if something links to it (decision 01/09).
What the check reads. An <a> element whose href or visible link text matches /privacy/, found only among real anchors — never a page-wide prose search.
