YLB ScoreThe checks, explained › Part I, Can people find you?

Your website never introduces itself

Behind every website there is a short, plain summary that only machines read. It gives your name, what kind of business you are, your address and your opening hours. When somebody asks a search engine or an AI assistant for a business like yours nearby, the firms that filled theirs in are the ones it can answer with.

If yours is blank, you are left to be guessed at. The guess is often wrong, and it is never as good as what you would have written yourself.

See for yourself

Paste your homepage address into Google's test. If it finds nothing, the summary is blank.

How to fix it

  1. Write down your exact business name, full address, phone number, email and opening hours, the same everywhere.
  2. Hand the wording below to whoever looks after your website. It is a small block of text added to the homepage; no design changes.
  3. Run the test again. It should now list your business by name.
The technical version, for your web person

Schema.org, JSON-LD. A script block of type application/ld+json in the page head, carrying an Organization or LocalBusiness object. Yoast and Rank Math generate one on WordPress; on a hand-built site it is twenty lines. We read any @type found, including inside an @graph array.

What the check reads. Any @type found across all JSON-LD <script> blocks on the homepage, including nested @graph arrays.

This is one of the checks in a YLB Score report. Every report is free, read by a person before it goes out, and written so that you can act on it without us. Ask for yours.
