YLB ScoreThe checks, explained › Part I, Can people find you?

The machines do not know you are a local business

There may be a machine-readable summary on your site, but it does not say the one thing that matters for local trade: that you are a business at an address, serving an area.

Ask an AI assistant for the best of your trade in your town and you are a coin-toss to appear, because nothing on your site formally says you are one. Firms that add this get quoted; the rest get skipped.

See for yourself

Run Google's test on your homepage and look for the words Organization or LocalBusiness in what it found.

How to fix it

  1. Add the local-business kind of summary, with your address, phone, opening hours and the area you serve.
  2. Keep the name, address and phone identical to your Google Business Profile, letter for letter.
  3. Test it again; the address should show.
The technical version, for your web person

LocalBusiness. A LocalBusiness (or a more specific subtype such as Accountant, Dentist, Restaurant) with address, telephone, openingHoursSpecification and areaServed. We accept Organization as well, because most generators emit that.

What the check reads. One of the parsed @types is LocalBusiness, Organization, Accountant, ProfessionalService or FinancialService.

This is one of the checks in a YLB Score report. Every report is free, read by a person before it goes out, and written so that you can act on it without us. Ask for yours.
