Newer trust signals for email

Two newer additions: one puts your logo next to your messages in inboxes that support it; the other tells other mail servers to insist on an encrypted connection when delivering to you. Neither is essential. Both are signs of a firm that looks after its email.

Worth one mark, and worth doing once the basics above are in place, not before.

How to fix it

  1. Ask whoever runs your email about enforced encryption for inbound mail; it is a small policy file and one record.
  2. The logo record needs a verified certificate, which costs money; most small firms skip it, and that is fine.
The technical version, for your web person

BIMI, MTA-STS. A v=BIMI1 record at default._bimi, or a v=STSv1 record at _mta-sts. Either earns the mark.

What the check reads. TXT default._bimi.<host> starting v=BIMI1, OR _mta-sts.<host> starting v=STSv1.
