YLB Score › The checks, explained › Part III, Will a stranger trust you?

No profile of yours is linked from your site

A link to a profile you keep up tells a stranger the business is alive this month, and gives them a second place to check you out. One is enough. There is no mark for being on four platforms and no mark against you for the ones you are not on.

Only link what you actually keep up. A profile last updated in 2019 says the opposite of what you intend.

Look at your own footer. Is at least one profile linked, and does the link work?

How to fix it

  1. Link the one or two profiles you keep active, in the footer of every page.
  2. Remove links to any you have abandoned.
The technical version, for your web person

social links. An anchor to a profile on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube or TikTok. Share buttons, single posts and videos do not count as a profile. One of four one-point rows in this pillar.

What the check reads. An <a href> on the homepage pointing at a profile on one of 7 known platform domains (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, TikTok), excluding share/intent links and single posts. One is enough: there is no credit for a fourth platform and no penalty for the platforms a business is not on (decision 15/09).

This is one of the checks in a YLB Score report. Every report is free, read by a person before it goes out, and written so that you can act on it without us. Ask for yours.
